Earlswood

I installed this at the start of November as a secondary heat source. It has been lit every evening, often at the request of my other half who did not "know she wanted a stove". If damp wood is used and the air restricted it will soot up the glass (but easily cleaned) . With dry wood, the glass stays very clean, produces minimal ash and the stove is very controllable (seems very airtight apart from tertiary air inlets, which are set on the back of the stove) I have not tried to keep the stove in overnight with wood, as I believe this is not a good idea. I have used smokeless fuel on occasion, and this has still ha glowing embers the following evening! Only downside (if burning smokeless) is that the ash pan not that large, but I think this is due to the amount of ash that smokeless fuel makes. I would definitely recommend this stove.

Stove Expert Replied: Damp wood should not be used as this can lead to tar residues building up in the flue and can lead to chimney fires if used for prolonged periods. Ensure that short periods of fast burn are undertaken to minimize this (15 - 20 mins at least daily). Wood should have a moisture content of less than 20%, a good investment would be a moisture metre.

The Savoy Mark II 8Kw multi fuel £1120 delivered

Traditional sytle stove, Defra Approved with large viewing glass !!!

Defra approved Stove

Introducing the latest stove from Franco Belge, the Savoy Mark II is a new and improved model in this popular line of appliances.

The Savoy Mark II is available in two different versions.

The model 1340809 is designed for use with wood or smokeless fuels.

The model 1340811 is DEFRA approved, meaning that wood can be burnt on this model in smoke controlled areas. It is not possible to burn smokeless fuel on this model.

We have changed elements of the Savoy Mark I to create a fresh look to a traditional period style stove. The raised features on the door and sides of the stove have been smoothed with only the outlines remaining for a touch of period style with a modern edge.

In addition the door on this model is hinged on the side similar to the Franco Belge Montfort which gives a larger expanse of glass and excellent views of the flames. The larger door also allows you to insert larger logs up to 40 cm long.

The Savoy Mark II has a very powerful airwash which ensures the glass stays virtually free from soot and tar deposits. The vermiculite lining within the stove increases efficiency from the fuel and gives a cleaner combustion which reduces the level of harmful emissions into the earth's atmosphere making this stove kinder on the environment.

This appliance is available in Matt Black stove paint and red, ivory and charcoal enamels.

Savoy Mark II Feature List:

* Ability to burn either wood or smokeless solid fuel

* All cast iron construction for maximum heat transfer

The largest ceramic glass door panel for a stove of this size

* Top or rear flue outlet

* Vermiculite lining for greater efficiency and reduced harmful emissions

* Powerful airwash system for cleaner glass

* Retains heat long after the fire has expired

* Suited to a large range of rooms and installation options

* Large door for excellent views and for use with larger logs
